This historical
and beautiful Villa belonged to a noble family of the Pazzi of Florence. The
access gate and the main door retain the original family emblem representing two
dolphins and crosses, these types of badges are found in many palaces that belonged to the noble Florentine family de Pazzi.
Villa La Delfiniana was bequeathed by Pazzino de Pazzi to his children Giuliana and Geri de Pazzi
who sold the Villa to the Count della Gherardesca until it was purchased by Frederick Mattei.
During the Second World War the villa was requisitioned by the Germans who made
their command office here.
At the end of the war Federico Mattei completely redesigned the property to
create a hotel. He is an avid art lover and the villa became a meeting point for
all major artists such as Rosai, Gentilini , Drums, Saetti, Minguzzi, Manzł, Carena, Breddo, Viani, Soffici, Guidi, Guttuso and many others were to stay and create a Montepiano at The Delfiniana given the friendship that linked
them to Mattei.
Today the villa is owned by the Mattei family who over the years have made
further restorations; currently the villa is used to create ceremonies and artistic events since its history
and location make it an ideal setting for any kind of artistic and cultural interest
