The Hotel is located in the Nature Park of International Douro and offers excellent prospects to develop the local tourist market, with special relevance for Ecological Tourism (e.g. bird watching) and for outdoor adventure sports. The building is a result of the renovation and extension work of an old mansion which used to belong to Manuel Martins Manso, who was the Bishop of Guarda, and originally from Bemposta. The construction of the house began in the first half of the 18th century, and the main walls have some of the typical characteristics of a nobleman’s house or Lord of the north wind mountain area from the end of the 17th and 18th century.

The mansion is also a good example of the Erudite rural architecture of the 19th century in the region. It has a private chapel dedicated to Nuestra Señora de la Concepción, a garden and a coat of arms on its main wall from the Martins-Manso, now the Marcos. On 4 April 1996 it was declared a Building of Architectural Relevance. The Marcos Mansion has 4 twin rooms, 4 double and 1 suite

BY CAR

The EN221 runs all along the border area of the Northeast Transmontano territory from Miranda do Douro to Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo From here it joins with Guarda/IP5. The EN 216 which joins Mogadouro to Macedo de Cavaleiros. The EN 219 which joins Mogadouro to Vimioso. The town of pueblo Bemposta is reached by following the EN 221 which crosses it after 6 kms., along an alternative route (EN 221-7) which crosses the village and ends at the Spanish border, at the crossroads with the Bemposta dam, 2 km. away
The Spanish village of Fermoselle is only 6 km. from the border

BY BOAT

Take a boat trip along the river Duero, from the city of Oporto, or Régua, to the village of Pocinho, in the Vila Nova de Foz Côa Council

Take the daily buses that leave from Pocinho towards Mogadouro and Miranda do Douro, along the EN 221

BY PLANE

From Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport, Oporto, and take the A4, towards Amarante, and there follow the IP4 to Macedo de Cavaleiros. From here take the EN 216 as far as Mogadouro. The road from Mogadouro to the town of Bemposta is reached by following the EN 216, which crosses at the junction with the EN 216-7. From the Spanish airports (Salamanca, Valladolid, Madrid), and take the train to Fermoselle, on the border with Portugal. From there take the EN 216-7 to Bemposta
